FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – Fort Wayne Fire Department officials say that a southeast side home was all but destroyed in a fire Tuesday afternoon.
The FWFD says the house was vacant at the time and they’re still trying to figure out what sparked the blaze at 601 Congress Avenue around 3:30 p.m.

Fort Wayne Firefighters responded to a reported structure fire at 601 Congress Avenue. First arriving crews found heavy fire through the roof of small single story residential structure. Crews advanced hose lines inside structure for fire control and search. Fire crews found fire in bedrooms, attic area, and roof. Fire crews were able extinguish fire in around 10 minutes. Searches were completed in residence with no one found. Crews perform salvage and overhaul of home that suffered significant fire, smoke and water damage. Fire Investigators found cause to be due to an Intentional Human Act. Firefighters were assisted by Police, AEP, Nipsco, NCE, and TRAA Medic 11.
