FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – An hours-long standoff ended with one person in police custody early Saturday. The Fort Wayne Police Department (FWPD) responded to calls of a domestic disturbance just after midnight.
According to the FWPD, officers were sent to the 4400 block of South Colonial Avenue after the caller said a man armed with a knife or other sharp object may have hurt someone.
When officers arrived, they found one person with a head injury. That person was taken to the hospital but is expected to recover.
According to the FWPD, the suspect fled into a garage and barricaded himself. Officers made multiple attempts to get the suspect to come out, but all were unsuccessful.
Officers then called the department’s Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support, in a further attempt to get the man to exit peacefully. Police say that after several attempts, officers with the Emergency Services Team entered the home. The suspect attempted to flee again but was taken into custody at approximately 4:18 a.m.

On March 15, 2025, at approximately 12:20am, FWPD received a call of a domestic disturbance n the area of 4400 S Colonial Ave. FWPD received alerts that there was an njury to a party involved, possibly caused by a knife or other sharp object. Once Officer s arrived on scene, they found one person suffering from an injury to the head. That victim was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The suspect, fled into a garage, where he barricaded himself, refusing Officers commands to exit. After multiple more attempts from Officers on scene to exit peacefully, Officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Emergency Services Team, Crisis Response Team, and Air Support Unit were dispatched to the scene. Several more attempts were made to contact the subject at which all attempts were unsuccessful. Members with the Emergency Services Team made entry , where the suspect attempted to flee , and was taken nto custody without any further incident at approximately 4:18am .
This incident remains under nvestigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department Detectives, FWPD Crime Scene Unit, Allen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Coroner’s Office.
