The head of the Indiana National Guard is trying to calm fears about the five thousand Afghan refugees who are coming to the state.
Adjutant General Dale Lyles said on Wednesday that each refugee was screened before they left Afghanistan, then screened again when they first land, then are screened again when they arrive at Camp Atterbury.
Lyles says they know who the refugees are. All of the refugees will be required to quarantine at the camp for at least two weeks. After that, some of them can leave and look for new homes in Indiana or other states.

ORIGINAL STORY (September 1, 2021):
CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. (ADAMS) – As many as 5,000 Afghan refugees could be coming to Indiana.
Congressman Greg Pence said on Tuesday that the Pentagon informed him that thousands of people evacuated out of Kabul will be sent to Indiana’s Camp Atterbury.
The refugees are expected to arrive in the next few days.
The Indiana National Guard is being called up to support the camp and the thousands of people who will soon be living there.
